Tuesday Morning

March 30, 2010

For Today… March 30, 2010

Outside my window… spring sunshine…and enough pollen to keep me sneezing for all of eternity.

I am thinking… I'm so happy the revamping of the schoolroom is finished.  I love it!  It's literally a dream come true. :)  But it was a LOT of work, and I'm so ready for some normal life.

From the learning rooms… well, in light of all the work in "the learning room" the last week, actually learning has been a bit neglected.  But we will catch up.  For this week we are focusing mainly on Easter.  That's the beauty of homeschooling right?  What's the point if you can't set your own schedule?

I'm thankful for…  three little girls that think I'm so great they forgive me every time I do something dumb.  I know this is a temporary blessing, and I really need to stop taking for granted that it will always be this way.

From the kitchen… time to go to the grocery store…or there will be nothing from the kitchen pretty soon.  Last night we had the most wonderful (translate easy) fish tacos ever.

I am wearing… pajamas.

I am reading… Little Bear.  Looking for inspiration for Miss I's upcoming birthday!

I am creating… a new birthday crown for the baby who's almost three!

I am hearing… Caillou.  A morning without him is just not worth getting up to…right? ;)

Around the house… Easter decor is out.  Cleaning is under control.  I put away laundry for TWO hours last night…and probably have about two more waiting for me today!  Yes we have too many clothes.  And YES we will be getting rid of some very soon!

A few plans for the rest of the week… going to visit my sister and celebrate her birthday.  If there's no rain we'll take a little field trip to this place tomorrow.  Good Friday service, dyeing some easter eggs (has anyone ever made their own dye?).  Church on Sunday.  A full week :)

Monday Night

March 22, 2010

For Today… March 22, 2010

Outside my window… adorable tiny purple flowers all over my yard….that will take over like a dreaded disease and become the most outragous weeds in a matter of days.  I’ve got to get busy out there.

I am thinking… that life would be so much simpler if I could just resolve to not analyze any of it.

From the learning rooms… the learning room is in a state of unbelievable disarray right now.  In the middle of project mode in there…hopefully pictures of the finished results will be coming soon.  In the meantime the girls are bonding with nature and honing their play-doh skills.  Enjoy your summer vacation.  We’ll be busy finishing up all of the schoolwork that was neglected in March. :)

I’m thankful for… strong hands to do the day’s work.

From the kitchen… my tweaked version of PW’s Creamy Chicken Soup.  My version: I use chicken broth instead of bouillon cubes, I leave out the dye, also leave out the celery, and I replace the pimentos with bell peppers because pimentos make me gag.  The peppers give the soup a really yummy flavor.

I am wearing… paint.  Lots of it.  And I refuse to shower until the morning because I’m tired.  Think what you will. :)

I am reading… I read this with Miss E this afternoon….SO adorable.   I highly recommend it!

I am creating… doll nightgowns.  We’ll see how it goes.

I am hearing… the Suns.  As in basketball.  No, I’m not the one that turned it on. :)

Around the house… time for some Spring decorating!  Maybe tomorrow.

A few plans for the rest of the week… just taking it easy.  Hopefully enjoying some warm weather.

Monday Night

March 8, 2010

For Today… March 8, 2010

Outside my window… MORE mud and puddles everywhere.  Every time things start to dry up another storm blows in.

I am thinking… an early bedtime would be wise.  The one area of my life I have an extreme lack of discipline.

From the learning rooms… Had fun today making H2O molecules with Miss A out of grapes.  We’ve been moving through our schoolwork at a more relaxed pace this year…taking time to enjoy learning, instead of just getting it done.  I was feeling real great about it until I calculated today and realized we won’t be done for the year until the end of June! Oh well.  When we take too long of a break the kids get bored.

I’m thankful for… my hair.  I know it’s silly.  I hate my hair most of the time. It never works how I want it to.  But I saw an older lady at the store the other day who had extremely thinning hair, like I could see more scalp than hair.  And I realized I would be really sad if that were happening to me.  And that I should be thankful for my full head of hair even if it doesn’t look quite how I want it to.

From the kitchen… I don’t know if there’s a Trader Joe’s where you live.  But if there is you should go there.  And buy “Trader Jose’s Salsa Autentica”.  I’m really picky about salsa, and this stuff is SO good.  You need to get some.

I am wearing…

I am reading… Stepping Heavenward by Elisabeth Prentiss.  It’s been so long since I’ve read a fictional book (other than children’s books) and just enjoyed it.  I’m loving this one.

I am creating… a birthday crown for Princess Darling’s 1st birthday! Can’t believe it’s already been a year!

I am hearing… Hombre discussing website domains on the phone with the hosting company he uses.  Pretty exciting.

Around the house… caught up on housework.  Now if I can just get the week’s worth of clean laundry put away we’ll be doing great.  I need to get ahead because as soon as the mud dries out I must move my attention outside.  All this rain has the weeds sprouting up in a nice thick carpet.

A few plans for the rest of the week… Just an average week. Nothing major.  Although I thought the same thing last week, and then we ended up going to our first hockey game!  It was so much fun.  Miss A danced and made her way onto the jumbo-tron, and we were thoroughly entertained by all the die hard fans sitting around us.

So who knows what fun things could be awaiting us! :)

Monday Night

March 1, 2010

For Today… March 1, 2010

Outside my window… mud and puddles everywhere.

I am thinking… too much.  Need an off switch for my brain desperately.

From the learning rooms… Miss A watched this exciting video today for our study about Morse Code.  I have my mixed feelings about the internet in general, but when it comes to homeschooling, I love it!

I’m thankful for… my voice.  It’s been going in and out on me this week, and yesterday when it cracked during worship at church I thought wow, that’s one more thing I really take for granted.

From the kitchen… spaghetti in the crock-pot is really good.  In case you didn’t know. :)

I am wearing…

I am reading… the book of Mark.  Very slowly.  I like it.

I am creating… these for my girls.  For new pj’s.

I am hearing… complete silence.  I long for it all day long, and then when it comes at night I just want to drag my kids out of bed and tell them to make some noise because it is too quiet!

Around the house… didn’t accomplish much today so I guess that means I’ll be extra busy tomorrow.

A few plans for the rest of the week… to relax and enjoy my family as much as possible.  :)
