For Today… August 2,2010
Outside my window… glimmers of sunshine after a solid week of rain. Maybe the swamp in the backyard will get a chance to dry up a bit.
I am thinking… I need to get on the treadmill, but I don't really want to.
From the learning rooms…everything is finally clean and organized and there is a huge stack of books waiting to be used. The goal this week is mapping out lesson plans for the year, then we will be ready to start next Monday.
I'm thankful for… little girl greetings first thing in the morning.
From the kitchen… I am definitely in need of ideas…tell me what you do with zucchini! With all of the rain my garden is being quite productive, and I hate to waste anything.
I am wearing… pajamas. And more mosquito bites than I can begin to count. That's always my indicator that it must be summer time.
I am reading… going back and forth between reading and listening to this for book club tonight. I have to say it's very well written. There are parts of it, mainly the details of rural farm life in the 50's, that I love. Otherwise to be honest, I'd rather be done with it. I tried to describe to Hombre some of the storyline and why I wasn't so into it and his response was "sounds like a white trash soap opera." I know it's not very PC, but I have to agree with his analysis.
I am creating… nothing at the moment. But plans are starting to brew for a six year old's birthday that will be coming soon in our house.
I am hearing… The whir of the fans and the air conditioning. After a week of swampiness I'm SO thankful for our a/c .
Around the house… spent all of last week catching up after being gone. Now that the inside is clean, the outside awaits. My garden isn't the only thing that's been flourishing with all of the rain.
A few plans for the rest of the week… exercise every day and hopefully get some sunshine. And thoroughly enjoy our last week of summer break.

For Today… June 1,2010
Outside my window… mosquitoes and zucchini plants…summer is definitely on it's way in.
I am thinking… it was a good day. A good, ordinary day. My favorite.
From the learning rooms… we're officially on summer break! And the learning room is an outrageous mess. But we just close the door and ignore it because we don't need to go in there right now.
I'm thankful for… "Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits…"Psalm 68:19 (emphasis mine)
From the kitchen… tell me your favorite summer time food! You know, the stuff that tastes good even when it's SO hot. I need help.
I am wearing… pajamas. And a mosquito bite on my right eyelid that is swelling and makes me keep seeing my eyelid in my peripheral vision, which is very distracting.
I am reading… trying not to be a book club slacker, so I cheated and found this on audio. I've really been loving it, but the end is taking a turn I didn't quite expect. We'll see if I still love it when it's all done.
I am creating… a giant mess in my closet by just piling clothes on the shelf instead of sorting and putting them away. But I'm just not in the mood to put them away.
I am hearing… little girls talking when they should be sleeping. Not uncommon in our house.
Around the house… today we cleaned the whole house (minus the schoolroom). Trying to get the house into low maintenance mode so we can spend as much time outside as possible.
A few plans for the rest of the week… to be patient with my girls and nice to my husband. And to have fun. That's it.

For Today… May 4,2010
Outside my window… a weed free front yard thanks to my steadfast labor
I am thinking… wouldn't it be awesome if there was a switch for thinking? Like… "I'm tired of thinking about things…I'm going to turn off until tomorrow." Like a computer! I'm sure there's some horrid downside to this idea, but none or coming to me at the moment.
From the learning rooms… four weeks left!!! If we stay on track that is. Which is hard with the fun spring weather.
I'm thankful for… warm, long days that make time for things like after dinner walks.
From the kitchen… made a giant batch of refried beans today. They were good, but I think I'd like to not smell them for a few days before I eat anymore.
I am wearing… a tank top and shorts while sitting under a fan, as opposed to the flannel pants, t-shirt and fuzzy socks I was wearing two days ago!! Our weather cannot make up it's mind.
I am reading… Just finished reading this for the second time. You'll either love it or hate it; I love it.
I am creating… time in my day to just play. We enjoy each other a lot more when the work isn't non-stop.
I am hearing… this show…I've never actually watched it before. Interesting
Around the house… we're having the outside of the house paint…and I can't make up my mind on a color. Any opinions? The trim will be white…that's as far as I've gotten.
A few plans for the rest of the week… one day at a time.

For Today… April 12, 2010
Outside my window… so much work I don't know where to begin. Garden prep should probably be first on the list.
I am thinking… Easter one weekend and a birthday the next makes for a crazy couple of weeks. Glad there's a little break before the next big "event".
From the learning rooms… pushing through as quickly as possible to finish up for summer. I think we're all feeling the drive to finish…the girls aren't even complaining about the extra work I keep handing them. They're just excited to get it done.
I'm thankful for… the days growing longer. My favorite part of spring and summer!
From the kitchen… thinking we need to have a few "clean out the fridge" meals. Do you ever do that? I have so many random leftovers that I don't want to waste, but nothing is enough for an entire meal. Maybe we'll flip a coin to decide who gets what
I am wearing… lotion I got for free. It stinks. But I can't not use it because it was free.
I am reading… We just started this with the girls tonight. I'll let you know our review in a couple weeks.
I am creating… absolutely nothing. My creative brain is worn out. I'm sure it'll get going again soon.
I am hearing… little girls talking when they are supposed to be sleeping…seriously what do you do about that? It doesn't seem to matter how many times they get in trouble for it, it never stops.
Around the house… started cleaning about 3 o'clock yesterday. Finished about 5 o'clock today. Glad to have everything back in order. Brought out all the spring clothes for my kids. That's always a bit of chore
A few plans for the rest of the week… I haven't really thought about it. Guess we'll see what happens!
