Well I'm in the midst of trying to get under control our post-vacation, post-mom-is-sick house. Not my favorite thing!
But I was inspired by this post to share a few of my favorite links for making things from scratch instead of buying the more processed version from the store. These are all recipes I've used several times and had success both with the ease of making them, and the results being comparable, or even better than their pre-made store counterpart. Hope you find something useful!
Homemade Cream of Chicken Soup
& to accompany that
also to go with that, the recipe that saved our dinner recently
(I also use this as a chili seasoning, just add an extra tablespoon or two of chili powder)
(I have to say the title does not account for pastry chef incompetence… but it does taste good, even if mine ends up looking ugly!)
Chewy Chocolate Chip Granola Bars
(the discovery that helped me once and for all let of go of a lifetime of Velveeta)
What sort of things have you made from scratch that are better (and better for you) than what comes from the store? Please share!
