I wasn't going to write today.
"My favorite things" felt so broad.
But then inspiration hit.
My favorite things are the things I can't go get at the store. Or online.
They're the things that are uniquely mine because they were created for me.
I could probably list several, but the ones that caught my eye tonight were in my girls' room.
The little toddler bed, made by one family member. The sweet blanket, made by another.
Parts of my past.
The bed that held my toddler dreams, and those of all my sisters.
And now it's held the dreams of all my girls.
The blanket that is fading and thin, but still has my name embroidered on the back.
Things that have been with me for almost three decades. Things that have become a part of my girls' childhood, just as they were a part of mine.
That's incredible to me. I cherish those kinds of things. There's nothing that could be more beautiful to me. It makes me want to be better about saving things. So my girls can have those kinds of things when they are women. To pass on and share. To weave their childhood together with their childrens'.

Ohhhhh…a toddler bed that has held all your dreams!! Love that. A quilt with your name still on it. Love that, too.
I felt that way, too, about the five minute friday — a few of my favorite things being too broad — I certainly wrote in fragments — but it is always good to get a list.
Thanks for stopping by my blog & commenting so Quickly!! I had barely posted when you commented. How satisfying is that?!

What a beautiful post–and what a treasure it must be to share your childhood with your daughters. That little bed is so pretty.

We are a family that moves a lot. And now, that we have had our third and last child, and I need to start to give things away, I realize i need to be more intentional about saving things, and storing things, for their children.

I love the things that I have stored up for my children, and I can only hope that one day they will cherish them as much as I do. I’m so glad that my mom saved many of the clothes that we wore. My daughter was able to wear my coming home outfit that had been hidden for almost 2 1/2 decades! Thank you for the sweet reminder!
