For Today… August 2,2010
Outside my window… glimmers of sunshine after a solid week of rain. Maybe the swamp in the backyard will get a chance to dry up a bit.
I am thinking… I need to get on the treadmill, but I don't really want to.
From the learning rooms…everything is finally clean and organized and there is a huge stack of books waiting to be used. The goal this week is mapping out lesson plans for the year, then we will be ready to start next Monday.
I'm thankful for… little girl greetings first thing in the morning.
From the kitchen… I am definitely in need of ideas…tell me what you do with zucchini! With all of the rain my garden is being quite productive, and I hate to waste anything.
I am wearing… pajamas. And more mosquito bites than I can begin to count. That's always my indicator that it must be summer time.
I am reading… going back and forth between reading and listening to this for book club tonight. I have to say it's very well written. There are parts of it, mainly the details of rural farm life in the 50's, that I love. Otherwise to be honest, I'd rather be done with it. I tried to describe to Hombre some of the storyline and why I wasn't so into it and his response was "sounds like a white trash soap opera." I know it's not very PC, but I have to agree with his analysis.
I am creating… nothing at the moment. But plans are starting to brew for a six year old's birthday that will be coming soon in our house.
I am hearing… The whir of the fans and the air conditioning. After a week of swampiness I'm SO thankful for our a/c .
Around the house… spent all of last week catching up after being gone. Now that the inside is clean, the outside awaits. My garden isn't the only thing that's been flourishing with all of the rain.
A few plans for the rest of the week… exercise every day and hopefully get some sunshine. And thoroughly enjoy our last week of summer break.

I’m starting school back next Tuesday. Still need to work a little more on lesson plans, but I think we’re generally ready. I wear mosquito bites quite often, too, even though I’d rather not. I’m sure you’d agree. Ha. Hope you enjoy your last week of summer break. I'm on a grand field trip this week, so I'll have to play catch up on Monday to get ready for school on Tuesday.
Thanks for sharing your daybook.

Lots of zucchini is a great problem to have. I shred it with a cheese grater, place 1 cup in baggie and freeze for later. I put it in muffins, breads, casseroles, on pizza, or anything else I can think of. Hope this helps
