Stuff in the Garden

June 8th, 2010 by Ashley

This is only our second year of having a garden, but it's quickly becoming the sanctuary of the back yard.

The rest of the yard is total chaos, but this is our space of order and peace. (Not counting the bugs of course)

After dinner when the sun has just set, and the evening is starting to feel refreshing instead of stifling, the girls and I have our outside time.

It's the perfect way to relax at the end of the day.

A few nights ago, instead of running around playing with her sisters, Miss E joined me in the garden.

We sat at the table and enjoyed the quiet while waiting for the water to fill up the tree wells.

I said "We should talk. Do you want to hang out with me and talk?"

And her eyes lit up and she said, "YES! Let's talk about stuff."

I'm not sure what "stuff" is supposed to be, but she brought it up again several times throughout our conversation.  Especially when she seemed to be getting bored of our current topic she'd say, "Okay now let's talk about stuff."

We talked for a while about nothing important, or anything that I can really even remember now.  But she was so happy.

I need to take more time to enjoy talking about "stuff" with her.
