For Today… February 15, 2010
Outside my window… it was a bright, sunshiny day. My favorite kind.
I am thinking… about de-cluttering. I think it might be becoming a bit of an obsession.
From the learning rooms… we decided to be like all the school kids and have a holiday today!
I’m thankful for… friends. All different kinds.
From the kitchen… my friend posted a recipe on Facebook yesterday for homemade cereal. I’m trying to decide if it’s worth the time/effort. What do you think.
I am wearing…
I am reading… lots of blog reading lately.
I am creating… time in my days and weeks to slow down.
I am hearing… the faithful hum of the Xbox. Other than that, quiet. Which is a delightful alternative to crying children.
Around the house… how do you do it all, and keep up without becoming obsessed with doing it all? Or how do you relax about stuff without it getting completely out of control? I’m in this permanent state of perplexity. Help!
A few plans for the rest of the week… the big Angelina party is Saturday. Looking forward to that!

Or leave me a note in the comments… I’d love to hear about your day

Umm, I don’t do it all. My crafting is during school time, so it’s slow going. Mostly I do all I can in the am. Breakfast (I make bread or put dishes away while they eat), dressed, beds/teeth.
930 School, free play when they get done(blog/facebook for me)
12noon Lunch. While the kids are at the table eating I do a few dishes and eat at the counter. If I’m doing a crock pot dinner I put it in now.
Usually Liv and the Jos take a nap after, and the big kids and I hit the couch for some tv. I either knit, blog or nap. sometimes we just read books together.
4pm is go time. The babies are awake and Nick gets home at 530. I go back and forth between cleaning and cooking dinner. The kids put all toys, shoes and whatever else is on the floor away. If they get done before Nick gets home I send them outside to play so that they don’t keep making messes.
530 Dinner, 615 baths (nick helps)
630 reading
7-730 bed time.
This is when Nick studies and I sew, knit or read. Finish folding laundry ect. There you go…does that help?
The kids rinse dishes after every meal and that helps lots! They don’t seem to mind so it’s not a battle either.

I’m not very good at keeping up, but one thing that has really helped is decluttering. Declutter, declutter, declutter. And then declutter some more. Make sure everything in your house brings a smile to your face and serves a specific purpose. If you don’t like it, get rid of it. I’m on a decluttering kick right now, too, and it feels wonderful to get rid of all that STUFF!!!
Delegate responsibilities to others in the household (ie, in our home, the kids clean their own rooms and assist with common areas, help fold and put away laundry, husband does his own laundry, etc). Chores don’t always get done my way, but they get done and it reduces my workload, so that’s all that matters
