For Today… October 26,2009

Outside my window… there’s no denying it anymore; fall is definitely here.

I am thinking… how is it possible to go from completely caught up to so behind in an instant?

From the learning rooms…  we’ve been kind of on an unschooling tangent the last few days…the monotony of being home sick for days in a row made me feel the need for some spontaneity somewhere in our lives.  The randomness has been nice, but I don’t think we’ll make a habit of it. ;)

I’m thankful for… sleep.  I’ve found myself thinking a lot the last few days about why we should hibernate just like animals.  Winter seems like a good time to just go to sleep.

From the kitchen… chicken in the crockpot.  Went shopping today and bought more ingredients for some green drinks….doing what I can to convince our bodies to stay healthy.

I am wearing… jeans and my favorite Gap t-shirt.  I never wear jeans at home. NEVER.  But I went out this morning and have been too lazy to change since I got back so….

I am reading…  nothing.  Finished one book, haven’t started the other.  Seriously lacking in motivation.

I am creating…  some friends and I are getting together tonight to attempt these.  If things go well, all the little girls in my life will be getting one for Christmas…don’t tell!

I am hearing… Hombre talking “business” on the phone…a bunch of computer babble I don’t understand.

Around the house… because I didn’t leave the house for an entire week, I dusted (!!!!), mopped, organized and did everything else you can imagine to render my house spotless.  And guess what?  It all  already needs to be done again.  There’s got to be a better use of my time!

A few plans for the rest of the week… I have one plan…overcome the emotional strain of being sick for a week and do not succumb to the urge to stay home and hide until spring.  Pray I’m successful :)

Or leave me a note in the comments… I’d love to hear about your day :)

Fall Friday

October 23, 2009

One of our favorite fall traditions is of course….fall pictures.

We always try to pick some place glamorous with lots of pretty leaves and take pictures of our darling children. ;)

Yesterday we took a little day trip for this purpose, but thanks to the warm fall we’ve been having, there hasn’t been a lot of color change yet.  That’s okay, it was still pretty.

In other seasonal news, the big girls and I did this today, and it was a huge hit.  Lots of fun for them and me.  I highly recommend it.  I think this could be a great thing to do all the time.

My approach to potty-training the third time around has been simple:  put her in some undies and see what happens.

Only a couple weeks later, with practically zero participation from me, she’s going to the bathroom on the potty, on her own about 80% of the time.

Considering my lack of effort, I think that’s amazing.  And I’m so excited she decided to like the potty seat on the regular toilet.  That potty-chair was killing me.
