Any time you talk about celebrating seasons, certain foods always come to mind.

Our “fall” favorite, that we must have every year is Apple Jack Cookies.  They’re so good.

I got the recipe a few years back off of a Gold Medal flour package.  And I’ve searched online, but can’t find it anywhere, so here you go:

1 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 medium apple, chopped (1 cup)
Heat oven to 375.  Grease cookie sheet.  Beat sugar, shortening and egg in a bowl until light and fluffy.  Stir in dry ingredients, and then stir in apple.  Drop dough by spoonfuls on cookie sheet about 2″ apart.  Bake 8-10 minutes.  Cool on wire rack.  Store loosely covered.

You’ve got to try them!  Tell me what you think :)
