My advice to all home-schooling mothers, and even just mothers of young children in general: pool your skills.
Between you and all your mom friends you have a whole world of fun experiences to offer your kids.
We started a couple of new fun things today.
I am teaching my children, along with the children of my dearest friend, how to sew.
Thankfully they are young, so what little skills I have to offer are extremely thrilling to them.

I’ll share more on our sewing lessons as we get into them. Today was just an introduction.
I get a little nervous, because ridiculous as it may seem, I think sewing is a rather dangerous hobby for small children.
I made sure they were all very clear on the sharpness of sewing scissors. I then told them the story of when I was twelve and knelt down on a needle that I had stuck in the carpet. The needle went into my knee, eye first, until it hit the bone. My mom had to pull it out with needle-nose pliers. Not fun.
The funny part is that after I told this story, one of the boys asked me if I would tell it again…..
Anyway, our other fun for today was dance class.

All those years my dearest friend spent in ballet classes are paying off beautifully.

My girls now know how to flap their “butterfly wings”.
The best part was twirling scarves through the air.

Well, that was the best part for them.
For me, the best part was watching my girls have so much fun.
I want to be carefree and just have fun the way my girls did today.
They do it because I’m right there, so they have nothing to worry about.
Why don’t I do the same?
God’s right here.
And I have nothing to worry about.

Good thing for us all to remember.
Love the pictures of them having such a good time.

I tried! I kept saying “Come on…don’t you want to dance?” And she would just look at me, perfectly calm, and say “no”.
At least she looked cute
