For Today… September 28,2009

Outside my window… sunshine and breezy.  I just want to sit and soak it up as much as I can.

I am thinking… I wish I could figure out what triggers my jaw locking up.  It doesn’t happen that often, but when it does (like today) it’s SO frustrating.

From the learning rooms…  packing in the apple fun before September is over and it’s time to move on to pumpkins.  I think we’re finally getting a “system” for school work that keeps everybody happy.  Victory!

I’m thankful for… a clean house.  I think it’s been about three months since every room in the house was clean all at the same time.  It makes the house feel so much bigger.  It’s very freeing.  Trying to enjoy it while it lasts.

From the kitchen… I cooked a whole chicken in the crockpot for the first time over the weekend.  I don’t know why I didn’t do this sooner.  SO MUCH EASIER, and it turns out so moist and delicious.  I’m done with the oven when it comes to chickens.

I am wearing… a dress I picked out and my sister bought for me…just for wearing around the house.  The style is cute, but it’s a little short, and the fabric is lime green stripes (probably why it was on clearance).  But it’s so comfy.  And I’ve kind of fallen in love with dresses lately.  I don’t know why.

I am reading…  The Scarlett Thread  for book club.  I’ve read it a hundred times, and every time I read it a realize a little more that it’s a bit sappy, but the message is good and I just love an easy read :)

I am creating…  lesson plans for my two year old.  I’ve decided that with all of the busy-ness of schooling two big girls, the little one is going to miss out on all the fun stuff I did with the others when all we had were toddlers.  So, the toddler fun is getting written into the school schedule so she doesn’t grow up with a void in her life from the lack of finger painting and silly songs.

I am hearing… Silence.  Wow.  Everyone really needed a nap today.

Around the house… working on a better maintnence routine, now that the house is actually clean.  Trying to give the girls more responsibilities.  What chores do you think are best for a seven and five year old?

A few plans for the rest of the week… Bible study tomorrow.  Trying (not looking very hopeful) to convince Hombre we should take the girls to the county fair to at least see the animals.  We’ll see…

My kids help put away dishes, make their beds (not perfect but at least they’re doing it), pick up toys, help take out trash, Isabel folds socks upon request, wipe the table, set the table. And whatever else seems appropriate for the day. I’ve read that book too…I liked it.

I’m trying to figure out the same thing for my kids…chores that need to be done on a daily basis to eliminate the torture of ‘cleaning days’. Maybe you should write a blog specifically for that when you figure out your list :)
