Thankful Thursday

August 27, 2009

Today feels like a list kind of day. :)

Little gifts are the best…

  • a quiet time rest with my oldest girl…her little hand resting on my cheek.
  • earplugs that let me sleep soundly while Hombre hangs with Jimmy Kimmel.
  • a cool breeze in my face when I’m so tired I feel like I can’t breathe.
  • pages in a book written over decades ago that speak exactly to the struggles I face at this very moment.
  • my baby’s voice…and how she says “my” for “I”…like “my’m okay mommy”.
  • a moment of victory in the life of a four year old…she came to me and said “mommy, I was going to get the brown sugar and eat it, but I knew I shouldn’t and I stopped!”
  • you’re gonna laugh at this one…weeds.  I find so much comfort in the never-ending presence of a job to be done.
  • a restful, uninterrupted night of sleep.  this a rare and precious treasure!

What are the little things that made your week a gift?

Word-full Wednesday

August 26, 2009

The will of our God is better than health, friends, money, fame, ease, or prosperity.
It brightens our darkest hours and sheds light on the gloomiest paths.
If you have made God’s will your kingdom, you will always rein in confidence.
Surely, then, you can see that it is a privelege to take the first step into the life “hid with Christ in God”–the step of total consecration.
I hope you don’t regard it as a hard and stern demand.  You must do it gladly, thankfully, enthusiastically.
Look on consecration as a privelege, and I can assure you from my own experience that you will find in it the greatest happiness you have ever known.

The Christian’s Secret of a Happy Life for Today

Monday Night

August 24, 2009

For Today… August 24,2009

Outside my window… I can’t see out my window because my blinds are closed, because that’s what I do when it’s DARK.

I am thinking… need. sleep. badly.

From the learning rooms… taking fall break a little early since Auntie is visiting :)

I’m thankful for… do you get tired of hearing me say my husband?  Because I just can’t seem to stop saying it.

From the kitchen… my sis cooked fabulous chicken alfredo for my birthday dinner tonight :)   We can just eat cereal the rest of the week, right?

I am wearing… pj’s. And make-up.  Because I actually put some on today.  And I’m really horrible about washing it off.  Which is why I never put it on. :)

I am reading… The Christian’s Secret of A Happy Life for Today … a modern english version of the classic by Hannah Whitall Smith.  Lame title.  AMAZING book.  I love it.

I am creating…  don’t you think “creating” is a really daunting word.  I never feel like I have something to share that lives up to that…

I am hearing… Silence.  Sometimes I enjoy the silence.  Most of the time I’d rather be hearing my girls.  Unless of course they are fighting!

Around the house… laundry catch-up because I kind of just decided to not do any last week…you know, just for fun.

A few plans for the rest of the week… my sister and her family are here, so we will be completely entertained the whole week.  Then the world will feel so empty when they leave :(

Or leave me a note in the comments… I’d love to hear about your day :)
