Well, I wanted to share a fabulous post about the “end” of summer, BUT…the power cord for my laptop has decided to quit working. And since I don’t feel like moving all my pictures to Hombre’s laptop right now… sorry. Nothing exciting from tonight. Maybe tomorrow

For Today… August 31,2009
Outside my window… the sun is shining and the weeds are calling.
I am thinking… our thoughts are so fickle; can’t rely on them one bit.
From the learning rooms… excited to get back to school now that auntie’s big visit is over.
I’m thankful for… a week of fun with my sisters…and that I don’t live in the 1800’s…where I would have to wait six months for a letter to know how they’re doing. I can just call
From the kitchen… trying to decide what to cook first to initiate the new crockpot I got for my birthday. Any ideas?
I am wearing… pajama pants I bought ten years ago, and didn’t start wearing until this year because I finally fixed the hole in them…pretty pathetic.
I am reading… Romans in The Message… I have to get in the right frame of mind or I feel like I’m comitting some kind of treason, cheating my King James…. but if I can lay my legalism aside for five minutes, it’s really good.
I am creating… lots of knitting plans now that the nights are coming earlier {sob}…trying to decide on plans for Christmas gifts so I can get busy.
I am hearing… Baby Einstein…just when I think they’re done with it, they decide they love it again…someday it will be gone FOREVER. Of course then I’ll probably cry.
Around the house… everything has been neglected the last two weeks…”around the house”=what I’ll be doing for the next week so we can live without walking on stuff again.
A few plans for the rest of the week… I have none at the moment…zero! Quick, somebody call and invite me over!

Or leave me a note in the comments… I’d love to hear about your day
Saturday is my Monday…does that make any sense? I always feel like I just can’t get going on Saturday mornings, but I have to.
Anyway, done with my whining for the day
Good stuff this week…
The Story of a Family
For Good
Do You know What makes Him Happy?
(your challenge for the week)
Learning to See
Get Lost!
The Gift that Keeps on Giving
(can’t be all seriousness around here)
How to be Disorganized & Unproductive
(I know you’re all dying to know)
And the must-read of the week…”My New Name”
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
(I know the 5 parts looks daunting, but it’s an amazing story)

I’ve shared before about how much I love books.
Well, what I really love are fun books that reinforce the things we are learning in school.
Now that Miss E has started kindergarten, we are having lots of fun with alphabet books. We own a couple of really fabulous ones.
We recieved The Hidden Alphabet from Great Grandma a couple of years ago.

Normally I am not a huge fan of lift-the-flap books (only because they are so easily damaged), but this one is so great.

It’s full of such fun artwork.

Our other favorite right now is a hand-me-down from Grammy… A is for Annabelle.

It’s all about “grandmother’s doll Annabelle”, and all of her wonderful accessories. Very sweet.

What are your favorite books about the alphabet? Give me some new ideas!
