Miss E lost her breakfast in the car this morning on our way to the last summer movie.
So I’m sure you all can imagine my day.
Anyway, I just wanted to share what I did to occupy my mind this afternoon (so I wouldn’t completely lose it).
I made these.
I’ve been thinking about it for a long time. I’ve always been a little back and forth about how I feel about it. But I figured you can’t really make a good judgement until you’ve at least tried it.
So now you know. The closet-hippy is out. Sorry.
Anway, I’ll give you a report on my thoughts after I’ve tested them out. But I have to say that making them was a total breeze; and I am not a pro at sewing. I made four and it took less than two hours from start to finish.
The best part, of course, was showing Hombre what I did to pass the time today. It took him a few minutes to figure out what he was holding…and as soon as he did he threw them back at me and walked away in disgust. Poor guy!

For Today… July 27, 2009
Outside my window… monsoon clouds on one side, blue skies on the other…waiting to see who wins.
I am thinking… about how sleepy I get every afternoon, and about how horrible I feel if I give in and take a nap. I MUST resist!
From the learning rooms… I spent three hours cleaning our schoolroom this weekend. Now that it’s all sparkly I’m much more excited to get in there and get things ready for starting school in a couple of weeks.
I’m thankful for… friends to relax with.
From the kitchen… I have a pile of zucchini waiting for me. And now that I’m not the bread factory, I might have time to do something with it.
I am wearing… my favorite jean shorts, and one of my “new” t-shirts, that I bought about three years ago.
I am reading… Petticoat Ranch for book club.
I am creating… that photo book I started working on like four months ago!!! Still not done. Has anyone else ever had a problem with the programs for those things running really slow/freezing up all the time? I’m forty-seven pages in so I don’t want to quit, but it’s making me CRAZY!
I am hearing… the two big girls playing with their Calico Critters (one of the favorite toys around here) It sounds like someone is dying, but apparently it’s all part of the playing.
Around the house… thanks to the almost daily rain, my backyard looks like a little corner of the amazon…I’ve got to get out there and get busy.
A few plans for the rest of the week… softball tonight, dinner with friends, show and tell on Friday. A pretty full week, but I kind of like it that way.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you…
Makes the mess of baking worth all the trouble!

Or leave me a note in the comments… I’d love to hear about your day

Ok, I have a real treat for you today!!!
Are you ready?
My favorite breakfast smoothie:
*First let me clarify that I am one of those lucky people who will end up in a clammy, trembling heap if I don’t have a constant stream of protein in my diet. So the more protein I can pack into my breakfast, the better my whole day will be.
So, my fave smoothie contains:
1/3 c. plain yogurt
1/3 c. milk
1/2 a frozen banana
2 yogurt (ice) cubes (I try to keep a tray full of plain yogurt ice cubes in the freezer)
about 2 tbsp. of natural peanut butter (the kind where you have to stir up the oil)
My blender has a “frozen drinks” settings, so I run it on that a couple of times (there must be NO lumps or I won’t drink it). The banana being frozen, and the ice cubes made of yogurt make it extra thick and creamy. It’s so good! You’ve got to try it.

**FYI: Hombre hates this drink! I am not allowed to drink it anywhere near him….he kind of has issues with peanut butter. So you know it’s got to be good or otherwise I wouldn’t put up with the dirty looks every morning.
(P.S. Yes, there is a weird black spot appearing in some of my pictures lately, and yes, Hombre is going to make me cry my eyes out by sending the camera in for repairs, and yes, I have absolutely. no. idea. how to live for a single day, let alone several without a camera. Now you know my tragedy!)
