The Dolls

May 19, 2009

Over the weekend, without thinking it through too much, I promised the girls that we could make our own dolls sometime this week.

Of course, I forgot about it, but they didn’t.

So, today during Miss I’s nap, we set out to create some exciting dolls.

I decided to supress my need for things to be done perfectly and just keep it simple.

Here’s what we ended up with…

Meet Miriam, Pocahantas, and Baby.

Completely ridiculous, I know.  I think they look like mummy wrapped bowling pins.

But it doesn’t really matter what I think.

The girls played with them the entire afternoon, and took them to bed with them.

So I guess it was a success.

It’s been a crazy busy weekend…. ladies retreat last night and today (so wonderful), then my niece’s birthday party this afternoon/evening.

The girls are bathed and in bed and I feel like I might tip over at any moment, but there’s just something about going to bed before 8 o’clock that creeps me out.

So, thanks to my need to stay awake, here’s some stuff for you to enjoy:

I’m sure Homrbe and I are not the only ones who could use some cheap date ideas.

I, of course, do not need this since I am the perfect  daughter-in-law…. but I thought some of you might benefit from these sweet ideas about how to treat your MIL.

I really love all these fun tips for slowing down.

I was really blessed this last week by these:

Microwave Mentality

Thank you for Grace

And my most favorite…especially in light of the fact that our ladies retreat theme was all about running…. Doubt.

Good Night :)

Thankful Thursday

From Miss E…last night…

“Here Mommy.  I picked these just for you!  They’re for Mother’s Day! “

I love how proud she was to give them to me. :)

For Today… May 11, 2009

Outside my window… a bright sunny day

I am thinking… His mercies are new every morning….

From the learning rooms…the pill bug terrarium was a HUGE success…trying to decide if it’s necessary to buy all new acrylic paints for a seven year old’s art lessons, or if we can just use the poster paints we already have…

I’m thankful for… my sweet husband

From the kitchen… haven’t made a real “dinner” since last Tuesday…might be nice if I got back to that.

I am wearing… shimmery “sand” nail polish on my toes.

I am reading… Alice in Wonderland…I don’t think I’m much for fantasy…although I did find this part humorous:
So she set the little creature down, and felt quite relieved to see it trot away quietly into the wood.  “If it had grown up,” she said to herself, “it would have been a dreadfully ugly child but it makes rather a handsome pig, I think,”  And she began thinking over other children she knew, who might do very well as pigs, and was just saying to herself, “if only one knew the right way to change them-”……

I am creating… uummmm…..

I am hearing… feedback coming through the baby monitor.

Around the house… feeling at a loss for things to do, now that the chores are so under control.  Going to plant our little garden today…more about that later.

A few plans for the rest of the week… hombre’s first softball game of the season tonight.  Church ladies retreat this weekend.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you…

I love how much this girl loves being outside.
