Los Libros son Fabuloso!
May 1st, 2009 by Ashley

I think I’ve mentioned before that I have an extreme distaste for clutter.
It makes me crazy.
I would rather see things in the garbage than in my house if it’s the differnce between a clutter free space.
However, there is one exception.
I’m completely obsessed with books.
This is the only kind of clutter I can and do tolerate. Because I love them. Especially old ones. They just seem to have a little more character.
And what I really love are good books that are cheap. As in, thirty-four cents. That cheap. It thrills me like nothing else.
Check out my fabulous find on a run to the Goodwill last week.
Isn’t it awesome? It reminds me of some of the books my Grandma used to have at her house from when my dad was little. Maybe that’s why it enticed me so much.
Of course, at thirty-four cents, I HAD to have it.
I brought it home and was even further impressed when I sat down to read the intro.
Very contemporary, unschooler-ish….don’t you think? I’m sure Soulemama would gladly endorse it.
And it has the most exciting projects inside.
For example, making hats out of a paper bag:
And even better….every little play hostess needs her own handy dandy “crumber set”!
I just love it. I love the illustrations, and the simplicity of the activities. Sometime in the near I future I might even loosen my grip on it and give the girls a chance to look at it.
And, in other book news.
A while back I read this post. The book looked so sweet and I was completly overtaken by covetousness. I had to have that book for myself!
Luckily, I’m extremely cautious with our precious dollars, so I didn’t jump onto Amazon and immediately purchase it. But I thought about it. A LOT.
So, a couple of weeks ago, I did a thorough cleaning of our schoolroom, and guess what I found?
I actually already owned the precious book! And not only that, my edition is illustrated by the glorious Tasha Tudor.
Look at the beauty.
And the sweet little verses.
The fact that this book belongs to me is slightly unsettling, because I honestly have NO idea where it came from. That’s a really weird feeling for me. You can point out pretty much any random object in my house and I can pretty acurately tell you where it came from, and at least the month and year that it came into my possession. So not having any clue where this book is from is really kind of hard.
But I won’t complain. I’m just thankful I have my pretty book.

I LOVE the intro to your new book! How many times have I said “you have so many toys, you don’t even know what you have!” ? Isn’t it the truth!! What a great set of finds!
