Sharing Saturday

November 29, 2008

After going out before the sun yesterday to catch all the “deals”, I’m moving a little slow today.  It’s been a hectic week, and it’s really showing in my house.  :(

With that in mind I’m thinking of giving this a try.

Here’s a fun wintery project for the kids.

Speaking of kids, I think mine would be really excited if I started making them cake for breakfast.

If you need something to do with all those fancy gourds now that the fall decorations are coming down, here is a really fun idea.

Here’s a little remedy if you feel a cold coming on.

Finally, just for fun, be sure to check out Soule Mama’s newest addition.

Enjoy your weekend!

Thankful Thursday~Happy Thanksgiving!

I wanted to write you some world-rocking inspirational thoughts for today.

But somebody else already did it much better than I could have.

So you should really take a minute and go read this.

It was pretty impacting to me as I read it this morning, especially following our Pastor’s  message last night about how we need to set our eyes on the calling, not the circumstances.

I’m praying that you all are blessed this Thanksgiving, and that we all are able to find joy in surrender.

As for me, I will call upon God,
And the Lord shall save me.
Evening and morning and at noon
I will pray, and cry aloud,
And He shall hear my voice.
Cast your burden on the Lord,
And He shall sustain you:
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.
~Psalm 55:16-17, 22

And from Miss A’s school lesson yesterday (I just love how straightforward these verses are):

Always be joyful.
Never stop praying.
Give thanks no matter what happens.
God wants you to thank Him because you believe in Christ Jesus.
~1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIrV

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Fun

November 26, 2008

Last year we had fun making fabulous indian headbands for Thanksgiving.  It was one of my favorite pictures from last fall, and in my mind, thinking about it yesterday, I saw the girls looking the same as they do now.

But of course, they didn’t.

All it takes is looking at a picture from exactly a year ago to really see how much your kids have grown. :(

This time last year Miss I had barely mastered crawling.  Now she’s busy climbing onto the kitchen table!

Anyway, enough looking back.

This year we decided to continue with the historical head-wear tradition.

So we made pilgrim girl hats.  Mommy was a failure and didn’t have any white construction paper, so our pilgrims are colorful. Oh well.  You can find directions here if you want to try out your own.

I think they turned out pretty cute.

What do you think?

Recent Happenings

So, did I mention we went on an African safari last week?

It was pretty exciting.

A couple of times our vehicle was taken over by wild animals.

Some were scarier than others.

Miss A was completely fearless.

It was all I could do to keep her from completely draping herself in this giant snake.

Miss E was not quite so bold.

She preferred hanging back with a bodyguard at all times.

These little guys were my favorite.

If you ever get the chance you should definitely check this out.  Just be prepared for a little dirt.
