Sitting Pretty

September 26, 2008

It’s been a while since we’ve had any Austen…

There is something so amiable
in the prejudices of a young mind,
that one is sorry to see them give way to
the reception of more general opinions.

Thankful Thursday

September 25, 2008

Today I’m thankful for this girl, who’s growing up so fast, and trying so hard to just be perfect.

I’m thankful for her sensitive heart…though being overly emotional can be a bit of a pain, I’d rather she be soft than calloused.

I’m thankful for her smile…she’s always had a picture perfect smile…definitely my most photogenic child.

I’m thankful for her quietness…when I’m just so tired after a long day and Miss E has been talking my ear off and Miss I won’t stop crying, this girl will just be with me, and we don’t have to say anything, because she likes being quiet.

I’m thankful for her unreserved affection…though it’s not real fabulous to know she will gladly hug any random stranger, it’s really wonderful when she wraps her arm around my shoulders, like that’s just what you do when sitting next to someone.

I’m thankful for her in SO many ways, but mostly right now, though I know it will pass, I’m thankful she calls me one of her best friends. :)

The Power of Suggestion

September 24, 2008

You all know Miss I, my baby.

Did you know she’s not absolutely wild about posing for pictures? (Shocking, I know!)

Did you know that the only way I get such adorable pictures of her is by singing “Itsy, Bitsy Spider” and snapping at the last second when the song ends and she is clapping for herself and beaming with joy?

Well, I don’t know where she went and who this little girl is, but it’s pretty fabulous:

Her shirt says “My dad is COOL… we’re a lot alike”

I’m convinced she can read, and that reading the word COOL is what posessed her to stand in front of the mirror and start posing like a glamour girl.

Maybe I should start a line of children’s shirts with suggestive phrases like “I clean my room and that makes me COOL” or “I always flush because I’m a SUPERSTAR”.  How about “I don’t whine because I’m BEAUTIFUL”.

I think I could make millions.  Anyone like to join in?  Come up with a catchy phrase and I’ll give you a few shares.

To the right…
