We had another very busy week, this time thanks to the start of school. I think it may take a few weeks to figure out a routine that includes everything we need to get done. In the meantime I’m running frantically to keep up.
So I decided that we needed to somehow tie our unplugged project into one of our school assignments. I started looking around online for “tree” crafts, and came across this one about making leaf people.
Fortunately the girls had gathered a nice little pile of willow leaves a few days ago, so we already had our materials. I decided this would be a fun thing to incorporate with the start of our Nature Journals, something on the school to do list:)
We started with some empty sketchpads, and I cut a piece of cardstock to fit the cover of each.

Then we glued the cardstock to the front of the notebooks and proceeded to make our leaf people. The girls thought it was pretty cool.

We decorated with crayons, and then when they were finished I covered them with contact paper to protect them on all their outdoor excursions.

It was simple, but fun, and the end result was really cute!

What I did from 9am-10am today:
1) Mixed and kneaded a loaf of bread for lunch
2) ASKED the girls to clean their bedroom
3) Mixed and baked a batch of granola
4) Hung a load of laundry out to dry
3) Changed a REALLY messy diaper
4) Searched my car for the missing sippy cup
5) Washed a sinkful of dishes
6) SCRUBBED the dried up BBQ out of my crockpot
7) TOLD the girls to clean their bedroom
8) Mentally planned which subjects we would be covering for school today
9) Dressed Miss I
10) Vacuumed the girls’ bedroom.
Is this what is meant by multi-tasking???
As a side note, my method for vacuuming used to be: clean up the whole house and vacuum EVERY room at one time. It has now evolved into: vacuum any indiviual room the second it is clean before it gets messy again. If I waited for every room in the house to be clean at the same time, I think I might not vacuum again for at least 10 years, maybe 15.?. Is this normal?
As always I’m thankful for these three little monsters…

and also for Hombre putting photoshop on my computer…I have NO idea what I’m doing, but it’s still fun.
No, I’m not referring to myself… ha ha.
I’ve been quite smitten with having fresh flowers around the house lately. I keep ending up with them for free, so that’s a definite perk, but I think I’m getting addicted. I’m a minimalist when it comes to decorating, but the flowers just add such a fresh, lustrous feeling…I don’t know if I can stop when the free flowers run out.

Do you see what I mean? How can that not brighten your day?

Who would’ve thought it possible that a tiny little
flower
could preoccupy a person so completely that there
simply wasn’t room for any other
thought…
