Today we started school. Very exciting. The girls were thrilled, especially Miss E, who will be participating a lot more this year.
Of course to satisfy my control issues, we had to start with a nice tidy schoolroom…
This was accomplished only by banning them from the room for the last two days. And of course, as you can imagine, by the time we finished today’s lessons it was a disaster. But it doesn’t matter. Some things you (or I) just have to do a certain way.
Don’t they just look like little scholars;)
Anyway, it was a fun day without any major meltdowns.
Miss A got to have her first official music lessons with Daddy….
and Miss E ventured into the world of cutting actual shapes. Once she realized I wasn’t going to tell her she couldn’t do it, she politely handed it to me and asked if I would cut it because it was too hard for her:)
Funny how I could never convince her of that before.
We ended the day with a gourmet patriotic snack, rounding out our fabulous study of the Pledge of Allegiance from the morning lesson.
In case you can’t tell you’re looking at yogurt with blueberries and strawberry jam swirled in.
This was of course the part when Miss I decided she also was ready for school!

Brings back lots of memories! A sweet post. Your girls are so fortunate that mom and dad are such great teachers….and Miss I at the end was adorable! She might just have to come to Grammy’s some when school is in session.

I’m glad you had a great day! Ours was awesome, too! Have you joined The Homeschool Lounge? It’s a great place where Homeshooling Mom’s can chat, learn new things, etc. You know, have a little bit of adult conversation. LOL
I know what you mean about the song “Held”. I’ve heard it so many times and it still touches me. It’s a powerful song.
Well, gotta get back to schooling. Love your school room!
Blessings,
Heather

Looks like you had a fantastic first day
We’re still waiting for our books to come. I was a little late ordering, couldn’t quite decide what I wanted to get
Love your school room to. I would love to have an area just for learning. I’m trying to talk my Dh into building on to our kitchen. *grin*
Blessings,
Nature Mama

I am a teacher, yet I can imagine homeschooling my daughter. I’ve been amazed by how many homeschoolers there are since I started blogging. You look like you had a great first day of school. Music lessons and everything – how cool!

I know what you mean about starting out with it clean…my whole house is that way!
What beautiful little scholars you have.
One of my daughter’s favorite snacks is Old Glory Toast–cream cheese on toast, w/ blue (grape) jam in one corner & strawberry jam stripes.
